1 US fluid ounce equals 29.57 ml (≈ 3 cl). 1 UK (imperial) fluid ounce equals 28.41 ml. In Italian bars, measures are typically quoted in centilitres: a standard shot is 4 cl (40 ml).
Italy uses the metric system, so bartenders and baristas measure spirits and liqueurs in centilitres. A 4 cl shot is the Italian legal standard for a single measure of spirits. Cocktail recipes from the US use fl oz, so conversion is frequently needed.
1 US fl oz = 29.57 ml; 1 UK (imperial) fl oz = 28.41 ml. The difference is about 4%, which matters for precise cocktail recipes. Most American recipes and bar tools use US fl oz.
Multiply US fl oz by 2.957 to get cl (or roughly multiply by 3). For example, 2 oz ≈ 6 cl. To go the other way, divide cl by 2.957 to get fl oz.
